This important event took place on 7 December 2017 at University of Technology and Arts of Byumba UTAB and 716 students were awarded Bachelor’s degrees in Education (Arts and Humanities), Renewable Energy, Management &Development Studies, Education in Sciences and Social Sciences,1 Student (Diploma of Higher Education in Social Sciences and 25 SITI –EAST Africa Programms Certified Students

In his welcome remarks, Prof. Dr Nyombayire, the Vice Chancellor of UTAB, emphasized that UTAB is more determined to shape students into job creators rather than job seekers. He revealed this when addressing a huge gathering that included UTAB community, government officials, leaders and representatives of different HLIs, the population of Gicumbi District and different partners who turned up immensely to celebrate UTAB 7th Graduation Ceremony.

Vicar General Dr. Alfred Rutagengwa on behalf of the UTAB Legal Representative Bishop Servilien NZAKAMWITA, requested the graduands to put the knowledge drawn from UTAB to good use so as to contribute to the development of the nation, region and the world at large. His word of appreciation was extended to the UTAB founders, Partners, Parents and Academic staff for their assistance to students. He concluded his speech by reminding the graduates to keep in mind that they are the future of the country and the future of the world.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor of Gicumbi District on behalf of the Governor of the Northern Province Mr. GATABAZI JMV, commended UTAB for this great achievement and urged students to strive for national unity and prosperity. He also warned them not to conform to the pattern of some students who became traitors against their motherland.

Among the speakers at the event was Mr. NYAGATOMA who addressed the congregation on behalf of graduates. He expressed his gratitude to the University leadership, lecturers and the wider University community for their tremendous contribution which will enable them to stand for the bright future of the nation. He also pledged strong commitment to continue building a more prosperous country that fits all citizens.  

The conferment of degrees to the graduates was presided over by the Chairperson of UTAB Dr. Alfred Ndahiro. His take-home message to graduates focused on his view that learning is a long life exercise. He said: You must keep learning. This graduation is the start of learning not a stopping point of learning.” He also hailed the leadership of faculty, staff at the UTAB for their commitment that culminated to the achievement of the graduation milestone.

Speaking at the function, Mr. Ivan WULFAERT, the Managing Director of Skol in Rwanda equipped the graduates with the secrets of success on the job market and requested them to keep their credibility from being tarnished.
